the recent project of Shenhua Baotou coal to olefin project is a super large briquette chemical project that uses coal as raw material to produce methanol through coal gasification, convert methanol to olefin, and produce polyethylene and polypropylene through the olefin polymerization process. It is the only approved coal to olefin industrialization demonstration project in the "Eleventh Five Year plan" of the country. It is also a huge chemical complex built in the field of coal chemical industry in China by integrating a number of first-class innovative technologies at home and abroad. For the first time, its core unit has adopted the methanol to olefin process technology with China's independent intellectual property rights, and has been industrialized. It has opened up a new technological path for the implementation of the alternative energy strategy and the creation of a new coal to olefin industry

the project includes 46 sets of devices/units of six systems. Among them, the coal based methanol combined chemical plant system with an annual output of 1.8 million tons is mainly composed of five chemical production units: air separation, coal gasification, purification, methanol synthesis and sulfur recovery; The methanol based polyolefin combined petrochemical unit with an annual output of 600000 tons is mainly composed of four petrochemical production units: methanol to olefin, olefin separation, polyethylene and polypropylene

the successful completion of Shenhua Baotou coal to olefin project marks the full end of the construction period and the official start of the trial production period. On May 28, coal was successfully injected into the gasifier of the coal gasification unit of the project, which opened the prelude to the commissioning of the chemical unit. It is expected that MTO grade methanol will be produced in June this year; In September, the whole line will be put into commissioning to achieve the set goal of "getting through the whole process and successfully producing qualified polyolefin products at one time" 2. Diversity of cooling methods

the construction of the project has also created a number of industry records: the total investment estimate of the project is 17billion yuan, nearly 2billion yuan less than that of similar projects; The construction period is only 32 months, creating the shortest record for the construction period of similar devices; The qualified rate of construction quality is 100%; The project has accumulated 45.7 million safe working hours and 1238 days without serious injury and death accidents, creating the best record of safe production in the petrochemical construction industry at present
